JUICES, TEAS & FOOD BASED DETOXES
We are extremely honored to be included in the Style of Sport cleanse review and recommendations. And even more so to be chosen as editor Claudia Liebenthal's favorite of the bunch. The information is valuable, whatever your choice, so we're sharing this article to our Burn & Build Body readers.
In good health,

Happy New Year! As we head into the first week of the year, many of us may be feeling the results of all that holiday fun. Perhaps a few pounds from 2015 have decided they might like to hang around for 2016. Well not so fast! As quickly as they joined your waistline, you can bid them farewell.
From juices to shakes to teas to food based cleanses, there are a number of popular and effective ways to quickly shed that extra weight. Even a short 3 day cleanse is a great way to jump start your New Year’s goals, and get you mentally and physically back on track.
A cleanse gives the internal organs a break from having to digest processed and fatty foods, sugar, and alcohol, which is energy depleting too. Limiting your food choices takes unhealthy options out of the equation and forces you to regain your healthy focus. As that food fog lifts, mental clarity, more energy, better sleep, and clearer skin are other benefits that will leave you feeling rejuvenated. Plus that quick weight loss, while initially it may be mostly water, will leave you feeling lighter and less bloated — and everybody loves the confidence boost of their jeans being loose again!
Here is round up of the tried and true, and most popular new cleanses. 3 days, 1 week, 14 days or a month long, even if you’re not letter perfect, you’ll be feeling better and ready to rock 2016!
FOOD BASED CLEANSES
These food based cleanses feature a combination of healthy eating, along with protein shakes and nutritional supplements that support the body during detox and weight loss. They are most non-restrictive and are ideal for those looking for a regimented cleanse with something they can chew on.
Burn & Build Body
Burn & Build Body offers a variety of different cleanses. From their 7-Day Fit Kit ($129) to their 14-Day Detox ($229) to their 28-Day Protein Lean Power Food Diet ($295), they feature a combination of healthy food choices and protein shakes, along with nutritional and energy supplements.
Each program has a different focus, from weight loss to anti-aging detox to fat burning, but all three are designed to detox the system, reshape eating habits, and increase energy.
Dairy, sugar, and gluten are eliminated, along with processed and prepared foods, and replaced with lean proteins, whole grains (restricted amounts), fruits and vegetables. Protein shakes are consumed as snacks or meal replacements, depending on the cleanse.
Burn & Build Body cleanses have been featured in The Oprah Magazine, Mens Health, T-The New York Times Style Magazine, and Harpers BAZAAR, among numerous other fashion and health publications, and are the favorite of your editor for a quick tune up.
22 Days Nutrition
Also known as the Beyoncé vegan diet, this is a plant-based vegan cleanse that lasts for 22 days. Marco Borges, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s trainer and nutritionist, founded the 22 Days Nutrition program. Bey and Jay partnered with Borges to bring the diet program into people’s homes. For $609.84, the meals are delivered once a week for three weeks in coolers and clients eat 3 pre-prepared, fully cooked meals a day. The 22 day regimen is garnered in the thinking that it takes 21 days to break a habit. “On the 22nd day, you’ve found the way,” Jay Z said.
Purium Cleanse
The Purium Cleanse is a 10-day program that includes nutritional shakes, three different kinds of supplements, and an apothe-cherry juice, in combination with nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables, slow-burning complex carbohydrates, lean organic protein and healthy fats. All vegan and all natural, the program is designed to detox the body and reset the metabolism, while promoting fast but healthy weight loss. Purium was invented by naturopath David Sandoval and retails for $290.
Be Well
Be Well is a 14-day detox program involving three shakes and two light meals per day, along with nutritional supplements and Glutamine capsules to reduce sugar cravings. Like the other food based cleanses, the common culprits of gluten, dairy and sugar are eliminated, and lean organic proteins, healthy grains, select fruits and vegetables, and unsaturated fats are included. The14-day detox costs $229.
JUICE CLEANSES
For those who need to take food out of the equation, and give their digestive system a few days off, a juice cleanse offers fast weight loss with a regimented program and nature’s nutritional support.
Master Cleanse
As restrictive as it gets, The Master Cleanse is a juice fast that permits no food. A concoction of lemon water, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper, along with an herbal detox tea daily, is all that is consumed for at least 10 days. Developed by Stanley Burroughs in 1940s and then revived in 1976, “The Lemonade Diet” aims to detoxify the body by completely resting the digestive system, and provides fast weight and fat loss. Beyoncé used Master Cleanse to lose weight for her role in Dreamgirls. A long time favorite with those who have the willpower to endure, the Master Cleanse is very inexpensive in comparison to other juice cleanses. All it requires is a few cheap ingredients and your own dedication!
BluePrint Cleanse
Founded in 2000, BluePrint Cleanse is the original 6 juice a day cleanse program, now commonly seen at most well known juice bar franchises. Designed to make healthy juices accessible to everyone, and juice cleansing as easy 1-2-3-4-5-6, Blueprint offers home delivery, and clients can choose cleanses based on varying levels of intensity. The Renovation cleanse is good for those new to juicing, offering sweeter blends, while the high-intensity Excavation is designed for more hardcore green juice fans. The juices are numbered in the order to be consumed each day. Clients drink six juices per day for either three, five or ten days, with the price depending on the intensity and length. Sarah Jessica Parker, Olivia Wilde, Blake Lively are all fans of the BluePrint Cleanse.
Liquiteria
Liquiteria is another popular line of cold-pressed bottled organic juices. The cleanses range based on experience with cleansing – Beginner, Experienced and Advanced - and vary in length, from one, three, five or seven days, with 4 to 8 juices per day. Prices vary based on experience level and length. Liquiteria offers “cleansing coaches” to their clients, who include Alec Baldwin, Chloe Sevigny, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ryan Gosling.
Juice Press
Juice Press has been making a splash this fall, as it was the “Official Cold Pressed Juice” of the U.S. Open and was seen backstage at Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone and Marc Jacobs during Fashion Week. Juice Press offers a wide range of juices and cleanses, from the $61 a day NYC Cleanse to the $35 ½ Day Cleanse. Or pop into any Juice Press store and customize your own cleanse. Juice Press fans include Miranda Kerr and Naomi Watts.
TEATOX
A “Teatox”, or tea detox, adds a few cups of herbal tea to a healthy diet, without replacing meals. These teas are generally a blend of such ingredients as green tea, yerba mate, lemongrass, ginger, dandelion, and milk thistle, among other leaves, and are said to help boost the metabolism, burn fat, aid digestion, and act as a natural laxative.
SkinnyMint Teatox
SkinnyMint involves two tea blends: the Morning Boost helps control appetite, while the Night Cleanse helps to flush out toxins. The 14-day or 28-day teatox supplements regular meals. Prices vary from $30 for 14 day package to $55 for 28 days. Kylie Jenner is a big fan of SkinnyMint!
BooTea
BooTea also offers two complementary tea blends, the Daytime tea and Bedtime cleanse, to detox and revitalize the body. In addition, BooTea created a Flexible Eating Plan to enhance the detoxification process. The 14-day teatox will cost you $30 while the 28-day retails for $58. BooTea enthusiasts include Kim Kardashian, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson.
